Summer's "Coconut Candy" Hair Colour Trend Looks As Good As It Sounds
The only thing sweeter than Rosé, beach days, and iced coffee, is the "coconut candy" hair colour trend for summer. This bright and fun blonde-with-a-twist colour combines some of our favourite hair trends from the past year — money piece highlights, blonde hues, and balayage — for one summer style.
Without even realising it, you've probably spotted the "coconut candy" hair colour trend on your Instagram feed and TikTok For You page as more people go lighter for summer. "The intense face-framing highlights are making this super trendy right now," Karissa Schaudt, a colourist at Maxine Salon in Chicago, told POPSUGAR. "It's best for brunette to blondes, and works on any hair texture."
This hair colour is different from your typical blonde hue. For one, it's on the cooler side rather than warm, like the golden honey-blonde colour.
In addition to that, "It's done as a partial highlight and achieved without purchasing a toner," said Schaudt. "This one allows the natural pigment to come through." To get the look, next time you're at the salon ask your colourist to foil your hairline to create that intense, bright blonde colour around your face. Then, from the ears to the nape of the neck, use balayage for contrast.
Earlier this week, Tia Mowry was rocking the colour — just in case you needed more proof that this is the shade to try this season. Keep scrolling to see more iterations of the "coconut candy" hair colour trend.
